Sandpoint – June 21 & 22
The next R&R Workshop will in Sandpoint, June 21 & 22. The workshop will begin at 9 am on Friday, June 21 and end at 4 pm on Saturday, June 22. Lodging has been reserved at the Holiday Inn Express for R&R Workshop attendees for the nights of 6/20 and 6/21 for those attendees that request it on their registration form.

Workshop Information
Over the 4 year period between 2011 and 2014, IVFESA will conduct 12 two-day R&R Workshops throughout Idaho. All volunteer/combination fire and EMS leaders are encouraged to attend. There is NO COST to attend an Idaho R&R Workshop. The workshops are funded through a grant from FEMA. As part of the grant funding, expenses to attend the workshops are reimbursed. All necessary materials will be provided at the workshop. Attendees are eligible to receive reimbursement for the following:
- Lodging for 2 Nights
- Mileage and/or airfare (mileage is $0.56 with a privately owned vehicle)
- Per Diem
- Parking
The Workshop will include material from USFA, IAFC and NVFC, and will include the following topics:
- Management skills : collecting and reviewing volunteer applications, improving interviewing techniques, evaluating prospects, describing expectations and motivating new volunteers
- Retention techniques: anticipating challenges, creating a cohesive environment and rewarding performance with incentives
- Marketing assistance: implementing a local volunteer recruiting campaign
