Thank you for your interest in IVFESA! As the voice of Idaho’s Volunteer Emergency Responders, IVFESA provides support, representation, and benefits for members. IVFESA is a vibrant and progressive organization thanks to dedicated members from across Idaho.
Fire & EMS Training - IVFESA is committed to providing training to its members. In September, IVFESA successfully completed its 7th Annual Conference in Donnelly, Idaho. Over 100 people received training and education in everything from extrication, live fire, propane and high angle rescue to arson investigation, Retention & Recruitment and EMS training with the St. Luke SIMS lab. Thanks to everyone who attended! The 2013 Annual Conference will be held in September 2013 in Donnelly, Idaho. IVFESA will again host the Central Idaho Fire Academy. Watch ivfesa.org for more information and to register for the conference.
Legislative Representation – During the 2011 session, IVFESA hosted a legislative reception so that legislators could meet with volunteers and volunteer chiefs to learn about the needs of the volunteer fire and EMS service. During the same day, IVFESA conducted training for local volunteer firefighters and fire chiefs. Throughout 2012, IVFESA will continue to urge state leaders to implement a $100,000 Line of Duty Death Benefit for all Volunteer Emergency Responders.
Higher Education Tuition Reimbursements – In 2011, IVFESA was awarded a $2.8 million SAFER Grant to Recruit & Retain Volunteers. The State Tuition Reimbursement as Incentive for Volunteer Emergency Responders (STRIVE) Grant offers tuition reimbursement to up to 500 current and new volunteers throughout the four year life of the grant. Eligible volunteers or their immediate family members may receive up to $5,000 per year reimbursement for every two years of volunteer commitment. Visit idahofireline.org for more information.
Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Assistance – IVFESA is committed to representing the interests of the over 5,000 volunteer emergency responders in Idaho. We are also dedicated to helping the departments in Idaho recruit the much needed volunteers in their areas as well as retain their current volunteers. In addition to the statewide marketing and media campaigns that IVFESA is conducting, we help help individual departments with their marketing needs at the local level. Through a SAFER funded grant, we are also conducting Retention and Recruitment Workshops statewide. There is NO COST to attend an R&R Workshop including reimbursement for lodging, mileage and per diem. Fire service leaders are encouraged to attend.
