Thank you for your interest in IVFESA! As the voice of Idaho’s Volunteer Emergency Responders, IVFESA provides support, representation, and benefits for members. IVFESA is a vibrant and progressive organization thanks to dedicated members from across Idaho.
FIRE & EMS Training
In 2012, IVFESA purchased a Fireblast 451 live fire training trailer. The goal is to be able to provide training to departments around the state, especially those that don’t have access to training locally. The trailer is equipped for flashover/rollover, interior attack, exterior attack, search and rescue, vertical and horizontal ventilation, direct and indirect attack, fire behavior, and basement fire with staircase access. Contact IVFESA at (800)Fire Line or visit ivfesa.org for more information and the training trailer schedule.
In September, IVFESA hosted its 8th Annual Training Conference in Donnelly. Over 100 volunteer emergency responders received training and education in a variety of topics including extrication, live fire, arson investigation, Fire Code, HAZ-MAT, RIT and high angle ropes rescue. Thanks to everyone who attended. Watch ivfesa.org for more information on the 2015 Training Conference.
Through 2014, IVFESA will continue to conduct Volunteer Retention & Recruitment Workshops across the state. The workshops are funded through a SAFER grant and are free, including travel costs which are reimbursed upon course completion. Over 250 fire service leaders have attended one of the 2 day workshops. Please visit ivfesa.org for more information and registration.
Additional training events are planned and will be scheduled throughout the year. Please check ivfesa.org for more information about trainings in your area. If you have events you would like IVFESA to add to the web calendar and have listed in newsletters, please email email@example.com or call the office at (208) 939-3473.
STRIVE – State Tuition Reimbursements for Volunteers and Their Families
The STRIVE program is also funded through a SAFER grant from FEMA. Through STRIVE, volunteers in Idaho can receive reimbursement for tuition and education expenses, up to $5,000 each school year – just by agreeing to 2 years of volunteer service. The volunteer can elect to use their tuition benefit for their family members, as well. More information about the STRIVE program and applications are available at idahofireline.org and ivfesa.org.
Volunteer Recruitment Media & Marketing Campaign
IVFESA is conducting a statewide marketing campaign aimed at creating awareness and recruiting new volunteers. Commercial, internet and print ads are running around the state. Volunteer applications are forwarded by email to every volunteer department in the applicant’s county. If you are not receiving applications, please contact IVFESA at firstname.lastname@example.org to update your email address. For more information about a marketing campaign in your area, please call IVFESA at (800) FireLine or (208)939-FIRE.

- Training Conference – Each year, IVFESA hosts a training conference at no registration cost for members. The 2015 conference will be in Donnelly in September. Check the website for more info & course information.§ Volunteer Recruitment & Retention – IVFESA is committed to Recruiting & Retaining Idaho’s Volunteer Emergency Responders. Marketing assistance is available to Idaho Departments to aid their local recruiting efforts. Contact the IVFESA for more info.
