Idaho Volunteers will March in Inaugural Parade in DC

Over 30 firefighters from Idaho were invited to participate in the 2013 Inaugural Parade in Washington, DC January 21, 2013.

Representatives from the Idaho Volunteer Fire & Emergency Association (IVFESA), along with representatives from the Professional Fire Fighters of Idaho (PFFI), and the Idaho Fire Chiefs Association (IFCA) will be marching as part of the parade.
The tradition of the Inaugural Parade dates back to 1789 to the first inauguration when George Washington marched to New York for his swearing in at Federal Hall. Thomas Jefferson’s inauguration in 1801 was the first to take place in Washington DC. The 2013 Inaugural Parade will have groups representing all 50 states following the President and Vice-President along the 1.5 mile route.

The parade is to begin at 2:30 p.m. eastern time on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC. Viewing stands and bleachers will extend from 3rd to 17th streets. The parade will be televised around the nation.
